WEEK 2 - MINFORD (1-0) @ COL. GRANDVIEW HEIGHTS (1-0)

Minford gets a week one win, despite 6 turnovers…and GH coming off a huge week one win also. Minford will be the ones making the long trip this time around. Hopefully, the Falcons have a great practice during the week, will play better in week 2, answer the challenge of a long road trip, and, of course, improve to 2-0.

Any other thoughts???

If Minford can look limit turnovers and control the line of scrimmage the can get a big win! If they turn the ball over like they did last week they are going to be in for a long night… :12224

^ Well no kiddin’ there Sherlock… As I have to be in Columbus Friday, I will be in attendance to cheer the Falcons!

GO RED!!

I think I will make the hour trip south to get my first look at this year’s edition of the Falcons. How are the facilities at Grandview?

I just done a google earth search on the stadium. It looks like a pretty decent kp

Hoping for a Falcon win…You gotta believe you belong!!

Looks like a very plain turf stadium. No logo in the center, nothing in either end zone, only 5-6 rows of visitor bleachers from the 30-30. Parking will like be an issue too.
Good luck Minford and represent the SOC well!

Obviously turnovers were an issue week 1. I dont know what type of speed GH has but Minford should do well defending the run up the middle but will need to play better pass defense and defend the edge better than they did week 1.

Many things for the Falcons to work on this week in practice.

I will predict:

Minford 21
GH 14

Minford in a close one, GH did beat Columbus Cent. but only by 7 and Cent. was suppose to be a little down this year but still coming off a 4-6 season last year. Be a great points game.

Grandview Heights is essentially a land-locked school, and football is not totally big there as is some other sports. Last time FC played there a couple years ago they had decent facilities, good concessions. Parking is kinda tough, however.

The visitor scetion is VERY small, 4 sections of 5 rows bleachers. Looks like they may have parking on the practice field. This is a good points game for the Falcons, but dont overlook them. Good Luck!

Centennial is a Columbus inner city school, (division 3:9,) and Grandview Heights was able to beat them 14-7. In watching their highlights, GH has some athletes and a good line. #44 is a bull! I think Minford is in for their first test of the year. Good Luck Falcons!

I’ll be there! Go Falcons!

Centennial is not an inner-city school. It is a Columbus Public High School operated by CCS and does participate in the City League, but it is not inner-city and should not carry the connotation that it is.

Looking at GH’s roster, http://ghfootball.com/varsityroster.html, they are a fairly small team unless they are intentionally under sizing the listings. They have 11 listed as over 200# with the largest OL/DL , No. 75 at 6’ 3’ AND 225. Three of the 11 are listed as RB’s. #44 is listed as 5’ 9" and 210# Jr.

Minford wins, but closer than the experts think

Minford will move the ball. If they protect the turnovers they will control the clock. I would assume this was a big focus in practice this week.

I will still stay with my 7 point Minford win on the road…

I like this game b/c it gets Minford out of the area and competing with a team from Columbus. Minford was able to handle GH last year, and if they cut out the mistakes, I think Minford should expect the same results. Good luck Falcons!

good luck to the mighty Minford falcons
